Following is an introduction to the options available for installation of the Agilent Technologies E1 to STM1 Optical Multiplexer (J7521A-001) into your network.
The options presented are confined to those presented within Agilent Technologies' Technical Note v1.09.
Option 1 - Panel and Cable
This option was designed as a "drop in" replacement for Agilent's earlier generation J7393A Optical Multiplexer with the new generation J7521A Optical Multiplexer.
Example configuration for 126 E1 bearers comprises:
- Connector Panel
- Agilent J7521A-K01 / Tekmos TK-UTC44-403-AGT
- Cross connects 8 * HD44 (old Mux Cables - Tech note ref: A2) to 6 * HD44 (new Mux cables)
Option 2 - Cable only
This option is suitable for a new installation where the network is presented as balanced E1 circuits.
To ensure the addition of the J7521A Optical Multiplexer does not interfere with the network, a -20dB signal attenuator must be placed between the network tap point and the Optical Multiplexer - Tekmos Resistor Module (TK-URM25-511-AFF) serves this function.
Example configuration for 126 E1 bearers comprises:
- Cable assembly (6 pieces)
- Optical Mux Cable to Resistor Module
- Tech note ref: A1
- Resistor Module (6 pieces)
- -20dB signal attenuation
- Tech. note ref: B1
- Stub cable (6 pieces)
- Resistor Module to network tap point
- Tech. note ref: C1
